Join the 2026 Art Love Tour!
Since 2021, Art Love, the live painting competition at the Festival Hom’Art de Shediac, has been showcasing the talent and creativity of artists. In just 20 minutes, participants create a unique artwork in front of a captivated audience, under the keen eye of three judges and spectators, who decide the grand winner.
Due to its growing success, Art Love is expanding with semi-finals in multiple communities. The winners from each region will have the chance to qualify for the grand finale, which will take place on September 12, 2026, during the Festival Hom’Art.

Cost: No registration fee for artists
Deadline : Application deadline will close 2 weeks prior to event date.
Age: 18 and over (Anyone can apply, but a selection committee will determine participants if applications exceed available spots.)

This year, the Hom’Art Festival is organizing the Art Love Tour across the Maritime provinces! Art Love is a live painting competition where local artists have 20 minutes to create a unique piece in front of an audience. This dynamic event showcases the talent and creativity of artists, highlighting the vital role of visual arts in enriching local culture.

Three judges, along with the public, will vote to determine the grand winner.​​
Competition Rules

Duration: Artists have 20 minutes to complete their artwork.

Materials: Only acrylic paint provided by ArtLove is allowed. No other mediums are permitted.

Allowed Personal Materials (not provided by event): Brushes, palette knives, sponges, rollers, and painter’s tape (tape must be removed before the round ends). No mechanical tools allowed.
Provided Materials (1 easel, 1 canvas, Acrylic paint (3 primary colors + black and white), 1 mixing surface, wipes and 2 water jars) No other materials will be permitted.
Restrictions
Prohibited Items:

Pre-made images, stencils, or mechanical tools (e.g., spray paint, hairdryers).

Adding extra paint once the round has started.

Mixing paint before the round begins.

Using reference materials at the easel.

The organizer reserves the right to revoke the winning artwork, as well as the prize awarded to the winner and their place in the final in Shediac, N.B., in case of plagiarism or non-compliance with the rules. If this occurs, the prize will be awarded to the artist who finished in second place in the semi-final.

Flexibility: Artists may rotate their canvas at any time.

Round Organization:

Artists will be randomly selected to participate in Round 1 or 2 with the draw taking place 30 minutes before the competition starts.

If an event hosts a minimum of 6 artists :
-
The artist with the most votes per round will advance to Round 3 (Final Round).

In the Final Round, the winner of the previous rounds will receive a new canvas and palette (same rules apply).​​

If an event hosts more than 6 artists :

The 2 artists with the most votes per round will advance to Round 3 (Final Round).

In the Final Round, the 2 winners from previous rounds will receive a new canvas and palette (same rules apply).

Completed Artwork:
-
All artworks will be entered into a silent auction.
-
50% of the proceeds go to the artist, and 50% to the Hom'Art Festival.

The portion awarded to the artist will be issued by check or e-transfer from the Hom'Art Festival within 30 days after the event.
Voting Process:

50% of the score comes from public votes, 50% of the score comes from judges (3 judges).

The public will have 2 minutes to vote between each round.

Voting ballots distributed at the entrance are specific to each round (incorrect ballots will be void).​
Prize:
-
A $500 prize and 2 nights accommodation in Shediac, NB, will be awarded to the winner in order to participate in the Art Love Finale that will be held on September 12th, 2026 in Shediac during the Hom'Art Festival.

The winner's prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

The 2-night hotel accommodation dates are non-transferable and will be void if not used on Sept 11th and 12th, 2026.

If the winner is unable to attend the ArtLove competition final on September 12th, the 2 nights accommodations and the right to participate in the final will be awarded to the artist who placed second in the semi-final.
